Enrollment conditions

Please read the following information carefully to understand how to register for, modify, or cancel a course at CLÉ.

Registration

Registration for a course with CLÉ happens in three steps:

  1. Preregistration — Please fill out the preregistration form to provide us with your information and requested course. Once submitted, we will verify that we can accept you on your requested dates.
  2. Deposit — Once we have confirmed availability, we will send you a payment link for the enrollment fee (80€) and the deposit (300€). The deposit will be deducted from the final invoice for your course. Please note that the enrollment fee and deposit are nonrefundable.
  3. Final invoice — Lastly, we will send you a final invoice for your course (course total minus the deposit). This invoice must be paid before the first day of your course.

Methods of Payment

  • By Visa or Mastercard
  • By bank transfer — If you wish to pay by bank transfer, please contact us after receiving your deposit request. Please note that all bank transfer charges are paid by the student.

Making changes your program

If YOU need to make changes to your program after your preregistration has been verified, additional work is required for both the administrative staff and host families. Thus, a flat rate of 50€ is required for any change requested. Such changes may include, but are not limited to:

  • You selected a host family in your preregistration but no longer wish to stay with one.
  • You selected other accommodation in your preregistration but now wish to stay with a host family.
  • You wish to change to a different host family.
  • You wish to change the dates of your stay.

If CLE needs to make changes to your program (e.g. due to the absence of an instructor), any of your impacted lessons will be rescheduled by the school at no cost to you. Courses are rescheduled based on the availability of the instructors and may be scheduled in the morning or the afternoon. Please note that this does not include courses that are not held due to school closure on public holidays. Such courses will neither be rescheduled nor refunded.

Cancellation and refunds

If you have to cancel a private lesson (in-person or online) at CLÉ, you must contact us at least 24 hours in advance. Otherwise, your private lesson can neither be rescheduled nor refunded.

If you have to cancel your in-person stay at CLÉ, please contact us as soon as possible. A refund will be issued based on when the cancellation request is received:

  • If the cancellation is received more than six weeks before the start of the program, you will be refunded the total cost of the program minus the deposit (300€), bank charges included.
  • If the cancellation is received less than six weeks before the start of the program, you will be refunded 150€, bank charges included.
  • Any course, whether group or private, that has already started is entirely due and cannot be reduced, replaced, or refunded for any reason, including but not limited to: late arrival, early departure.

Additionally,

  • Public holidays in France are officially non-working days on which the school will be closed and courses will not be held. Group courses scheduled on these days will neither be rescheduled nor refunded. Private classes cannot be scheduled on these days. 'We advise you to take these holidays into account when selecting the dates for your program.
  • CLÉ reserves the right to dismiss any student whose attitude or behavior is incompatible with the school's ethics. In the event that such a dismissal is necessary, your program will neither be refunded nor replaced.

We advise you to take out cancellation insurance if you think you may need to cancel your program.

French level test

Before your arrival at CLÉ, you must take a test to allow us to evaluate your French level. This allows us to place you in the appropriate group on day one so that you can start learning right away. Please be aware that we are not in IT, so we may not be able to help you with technical problems. If you are unable to take the test before your arrival for any reason, you will take the test the morning of your first day at CLÉ. Please note that any courses missed due to this cannot be rescheduled or refunded.

If you arrive late to your first day of school, it complicates our organization and we are obliged to free a teacher to take care of you separately. Any late arrival is therefore charged 100€.

Number of students

Group classes of general French

If you are the only student at your level (generally at a very low or very advanced level), you will be welcomed under the same financial conditions but for half of the 20 hours of group classes. Thus you will benefit from 10 hours of classes per week, distributed as follows: 8 hours of private lessons and 2 hours of cultural workshop on Thursday afternoon.

If there are only two students in a level, the 20 hours of group lessons per week are reduced to 15 hours, distributed as follows: 13 hours of group lessons and 2 hours of cultural workshop on Thursday afternoon.

Special packages (DELF-DALF prep, specific demands)

Please refer to our brochure. The opening of special package group classes is subject to a minimum of registrations.

Number of students per class

During very busy periods, CLÉ reserves the right to increase the number of students per group to 9. This will remain exceptional.

Insurance

Participants are not insured by CLE in case of accident, illness, theft, etc. It is therefore strongly recommended to take out personal insurance.
