A Legacy of Excellence

In September 1989, The New York Times published an article titled “Total Immersion in France”, highlighting a unique and powerful way to learn French — by experiencing it fully at CLÉ. Written by journalist Alison France, the article praised the school for delivering something few language programs could: true linguistic immersion, both in and outside the classroom. From the moment students arrived, English was set aside entirely. Lessons were dynamic, engaging, and personal, while afternoons and evenings were spent living real French life — with host families, in cafés, at local markets, and on cultural excursions. More than three decades later, the spirit of CLÉ remains unchanged. We continue to offer an intimate, high-quality French learning experience tailored to motivated learners from around the world. Our classes are small, our teaching personalized, and our commitment to immersion still defines everything we do. Being featured in The New York Times was a proud moment in our history — a reflection of the standards we set, the results we deliver, and the impact we have on our students’ lives.
